September Monthly Meeting 2016

Supporting Families Through a Loss

Wednesday, September 28th
7:00 to 8:30pm
At the Athens Library

Stillbirth, miscarriage and infant death are often uncomfortable topics in our culture. This leaves families that experience loss feeling isolated in their grief. From bereavement doulas and counselors, to handmade blankets as well as a network of photographers, come find what resources we have in our community that can offer support and healing to these families. The intent of this meeting is to empower us all to walk beside our friends and family who experience loss. You will leave with a list of resources, ideas and confidence in your ability to help people who are grieving.

Birth Circle monthly meetings are free and open to the public.
Children welcome to attend.
Co-sponsored by the Athens County Public Libraries.

Items from our Lending Library are available for you to check out and take home from Birth Circle meetings. In addition to books and other media, we have baby carriers, birthing balls and other supplies available for loan.

Howdy Everyone!
We hope you’ll join us for a new take on our Annual Birth Circle Family Reunion Picnic this Wednesday, August 31st at Little Fish Brewing Company.  Meet friends old and new, enjoy a tasty beverage, eat delicious food and let the kids play in the lingering summer sunshine.  What better way is there to spend the last Wednesday of August?
On the heels of this monthly gathering follow our Play Group and Loss Support Group.  These two regular monthly meetings offer two unique chances to connect with other families in safe and supportive environments.  Both are free and open to the public.  See below for more information.
We look forward to seeing you this week as we round out the last days of August and look forward to the holiday weekend.  See you soon!

Good Evening,

I am so excited to let you know that the 12th Annual Birth Circle & La Leche League Yard Sale was a GRAND SUCCESS!  On behalf of both organizations I would like to thank all of those families who donated items to our sale.  Thanks to you, we had a wonderful and varied selection of baby and mama-related items, as well as fun things for the rest of the family.  We sincerely appreciate your contributions!

We were so happy to see all the folks who came out to the sale on Friday and Saturday as well!  Your purchases this weekend also greatly helped to support two valuable community organizations, and we thank you for your contributions!

Lastly, this fun, annual fundraiser depends tremendously on our volunteers, and we are so grateful for all of the time and effort that these amazing people contributed to this event!  Spearheading this effort were The Birth Circle’s Board President and Vice President respectively, Amy Kovach and Carolyn Hain, as well as La Leche League Leaders Sherri Beigeleisen and Cassie Meek.  Their superb organization and coordination made for an exceptionally successful event, and we are truly thankful!

Enjoy your evening, and thanks again for your support!

Warmly,

June Monthly Meeting & Events 2016

Good Morning and Happy Monday!
We have a wonderful monthly meeting planned for THIS Wednesday called “Falling in Love with Baby.” Sometimes the early days after baby is born can be a bit overwhelming and many of us often think that falling in love with your baby should be the easiest part of becoming a parent, right? Brielle Clark from Hopewell Health Centers will be on hand to share more about how, in some cases, our past trauma and the history of the way we were parented can get in the way of giving baby 100% of our heart. Come and learn more about how to become a nurturing and loving parent to your new baby.  Please see below for more details, and we hope to see you there!

FALLING IN LOVE WITH BABY
Wednesday, June 29th
7pm to 8:30pm
Athens Public Library
Join Brielle Clark as she shares how falling in love with your baby should be the easiest part of becoming a Mom, right? In some cases, past trauma and history of the way you were parented can get in the way of giving baby 100% of your heart. Being aware of our past and ready to put forth the extra effort in the beginning can make a big difference. The younger a baby is the more their brain is like a sponge soaking up anything and everything. Nurture, love and kindness can promote better brain development as well as social-emotional development which is setting the stage to a bright future. The tiniest gesture like eye contact and talking to your baby will be engraved in your baby’s brain forever. There is no limit on the amount of love, comfort and support you give to your sweet baby.
