For a third year in a row we have received generous funding from the Athens Foundation to hold our Prepared Mommy Camp! This week-long Camp for pregnant teens is one of our most important programs, and will take place this year the week of June 22nd- June 26th. At Camp the participants will learn about and discuss such topics as healthy pregnancy, labor and birth, infant care, positive parenting and looking toward the future, all the while forming bonds of support with each other. Throughout the week the young moms-to-be receive free lunch and transportation if needed, and they leave each day with gifts and supplies for themselves and baby donated by the community. It is an incredible week indeed!
In order to make this Camp a success, we need your help. We are looking for volunteers to:
- provide transportation
- provide snacks (one snack per day)
- assist our kitchen coordinator
- help clean up after Camp on Friday June 26th
- pick up and deliver lunch from our lunch sponsors (one person needed per day)
We are also looking for donations of baby and mommy-related items and supplies as well as gift cards that will go directly to the participants. These items should be new or very gently used and in excellent condition. Any help you are able to provide is very much appreciated! If you have any questions about the Prepared Mommy Camp please feel free to contact me either by phone or email. We look forward to another great Prepared Mommy Camp thanks to people like you!
