BIRTH IN OHIO AMISH COMMUNITIES
Wednesday, October 28th
7:00 to 8:30pm
At the Athens Library
Dr. Randall Longenecker is a family physician who practiced for 30 years in Logan County, Ohio, where there is a sizable Amish community. Over that time he worked with his Amish patients, as well as lay and direct entry midwives, to create affordable alternatives to the traditional schedule and setting of perinatal care – simplified payment packages, group visits, shared care, home birth back-up, low-intervention hospital births, and “educational” ultrasounds. He will share stories and take questions from the audience as to how lessons learned might apply in our community.
Jive! is a fantastic event thanks to all of our volunteers, and you could be one of them! Believe it or not, this fun, family New Year’s Eve event is right around the corner! If you are interested in helping organize, we would love to have your help on any of these committees: Food, Decorations, Kids’ Activities, Posters and Ticket Sales. Please contact Emily Schmaltz or Margaret Hoff for more information. Thanks!
