July Monthly Meeting 2017

Perhaps you have questions about handling your child’s behavior, building character, choosing media, teaching reading, responding to children’s questions about sensitive topics, etc. Dr. Sharon Carver will be joining us at the Athens Library this Wednesday from 7-8:30 pm. For those of you who submitted questions already, thank you! Questions are also welcome in person the evening of the meeting. We look forward to seeing you!

Dr. Carver is the Director of the Children’s School at Carnegie Mellon University, and she joins us for the evening to share her knowledge of child development and psychology. This meeting’s discussion will focus on (but is not limited to) questions submitted prior to the evening’s gathering. Questions can be submitted in advance by filling out this form.

All our monthly meetings are free and open to the public. We hope you’ll join us!

Birth Circle Annual Yard Sale

Join us for our annual fundraising yard sale! All proceeds will help The Birth Circle continue to provide free programming for area women and families. Come shop for baby gear and clothes, breastfeeding items, maternity wear, and other fun child and family-related items. We hope to see you there!!

What an incredible season summer can be, and we have some lovely programs and events that reflect the wonders that come with this time of year.  For instance you can come and explore Strouds Run with the Young Moms’ Group, join us for our monthly meeting where we’ll discuss the joys and surprises that having a toddler in the house can bring, or sit and talk with others who have experienced the loss of a child in their family, for whom the marvels of the season can often come with mixed emotions.  Whether we see you at one or at all of our July events, we’ll be happy you’re there, so plan on joining us this month.  See you soon!

YOUNG MOMS’ GROUP:  FAMILY PICNIC DAY!
Saturday July 22nd
Strouds Run State Park Beach
1:30-3pm

The Birth Circle hosts this support group for moms or moms-to-be who would like to spend some time learning and socializing with other young moms and their children. Open to all younger moms old and new, so if you were under 22 year of age when you had your first child, then join us and share your experiences as a young mom.

For our July meeting, bring the whole family to the first annual Young Moms’ Group Picnic This is the perfect time to bring along friends and family who are curious about what the Young Moms’ Group is all about. There will be food, conversation and some playtime in the water. We will supply the sandwich fixings so just bring a dish to share and join us for some weekend fun in the sun. We can’t wait to see you!

JULY LOSS SUPPORT GROUP
Thursday, July 6th

If you are in need of support because of a pregnancy loss or the loss of your child, you are welcome to join us every first Thursday of the month for this support group.  These meetings are free and facilitated by a professional social worker.  All family members, such as grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, as well as friends are welcome.  Childcare is provided.
