Birth Circle Bylaws

 Our Goals

In 2006 we received a grant from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio to purchase educational items -- books, DVDs, and more -- for our lending library.

We have also begun a program to help low-income women pay for most of the cost of independent childbirth classes or the help of a doula/birth helper.  This program was paid for by many supporters who attended fundraisers at the Shisha Cafe and a Mingle with Moms evening -- both with excellent food for all!

We are also exploring the possibility of getting a similar organization begun in Meigs County, based on initial interest expressed by several women who live there.

More distant goals include purchasing or leasing building space so that we could expand to become a resource center for expectant and new families in our community. This space could be used to schedule and hold meetings, host play groups and teach classes such as Prenatal Childbirth Education, prenatal yoga, sibling classes, refresher classes, etc.

Our ultimate long-term goal is to have an out-of-hospital birth center here in our own community.
