Book Drive for Prepared Mommy Camp

Prepared Mommy Camp is The Birth Circle’s program dedicated to helping teen and young moms get ready for parenthood. To enhance the knowledge each mother takes away from the Prepared Mommy Camp, the Birth Circle provides material for her to take home at the end of the week-long experience. Peggy Lewis has put together this book drive in order to include baby books for the moms as well.

A $20 donation will sponsor 2-4 books per person. With your help we can make sure that all participants have these awesome, entertaining books for their little ones!

If you have any questions contact Peggy Lewis at pgarcialewis@gmail.com.

Prepared Mommy Camp 2016

We are now accepting applications for the 2016 Prepared Mommy Camp which will be held June 20-24th at the Athens Area Friends Meeting House in Chauncey, Ohio. For the 4th year, the Birth Circle will help teen and young moms-to-be become confident and prepared for parenthood. The five-day camp is free thanks to generous support from the community as well as funding from the Athens Foundation. Participation includes lunch, essential baby items, transportation and childcare each day.

The intention of Prepared Mommy Camp is to share positive parenting skills and foster self-confidence, as well as help young moms build a long-term support network with each other and with more experienced parents in the community. Each day of Prepared Mommy Camp focuses on a particular topic: healthy pregnancy and relationships, birth and infant care, positive parenting, and planning for the future. Along with discussion of these topics, there are hands-on activities facilitated by former teen moms and time for the young women to ask questions, discuss the topics and get to know each other.

To enhance the knowledge each mother takes away from the camp, we provide materials for her to take home at the end of the week-long experience.
