THE ATHENS CASA PROGRAM:  WHAT IS IT AND HOW CAN YOU BECOME INVOLVED?

Wednesday, March 30th

from 7:00 to 8:30pm

at the Athens Library

This event is free and open to the public. Children are welcome to attend!

Executive Director of the Athens CASA/GAL Program, Jenny Stotts, Volunteer Coordinator, Tara Huffman and Social Work Intern and CASA advocate, Emily Fischer, will discuss the CASA program and how community members can become involved.  The Athens CASA/GAL Program is an organization of ordinary people doing extraordinary work.  Athens CASA recruits and trains community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASAs are appointed by juvenile court to serve as Guardians Ad Litem in cases where children have experienced abuse, neglect or dependency.  The CASA provides an objective assessment and recommendation to the court regarding the child’s best interests.  There will also be discussion regarding recognizing signs and preventing child abuse and/or neglect as a community member.

All Birth Circle monthly meetings are co-sponsored by

the Athens County Public Library.
