The Birth Circle Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Athens, Ohio. Our mission is to empower and support all individuals and families—regardless of background, identity, culture, or family structure—through their unique journeys of family-building by providing information, resources, and a sense of community.

 

Our purpose is to cultivate a compassionate community where all individuals and families can find support, information, resources, and meaningful connections. We welcome conversations about pregnancy, childbirth, infant feeding, parenting, and family well-being, creating an environment where all backgrounds, experiences, identities, and family structures are respected and valued. We create a welcoming space where everyone can share their experiences, questions, and concerns about pregnancy, birth, parenting, postpartum, puberty, and family life. As children grow, we provide resources and support to help families navigate developmental and transitional milestones, including puberty, adolescence, emotional well-being, and healthy relationships.

The Birth Circle strives to create a welcoming space where individuals and families can learn, grow, and find support throughout their family-building journeys. Through shared experiences,, and, we foster a sense of community that empowers families at every stage life. We offer discussion and support groups, educational workshops, guest speakers, and a multitude of other resources. We share local resources and evidence-based information on pregnancy, birth, postpartum care infant feeding, and parenting, and connect families with obstetric providers, midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, and other community support. We serve as a community connector, providing resources and education to help families navigate the evolving stages of child development, including early childhood, puberty, adolescence, and emotional well-being. We offer discussion and support groups, workshops, guest speakers, and other for new and soon-to-be families. We can help connect families with information local resources, such as evidence-based prenatal and perinatal practices and services, including obstetrician offices, local doulas, certified midwife providers, and lactation consultants. The Birth Circle aims to allow parents and families to learn, grow, and heal through their experiences. As a group, we hope to share in each other’s lives, creating a sense of community through the experience of parenthood.
