Hello Everyone!
What a great month we have ahead of us with so many fantastic events going on!!! It is a month of play, support, two rockin’ Yard Sales, and to round things out, a super-fun Family Reunion Picnic at Little Fish Brewing Company. Sure, some of the kids are heading back to school, but we can all take a moment to rejoice in the season and reconnect with friends at one or more of these fun events. We hope you will join us for all of them, and you can find more details below for each one. Also don’t forget…this month is National Breastfeeding Month–yipee! See you soon!

For a twelfth year in a row the Birth Circle and La Leche League are hosting a fundraising Yard Sale to round out the summer. If you need baby and mama-related items, books, and other family goodies, this is the place to shop! Come check out the wares and support two incredible community organizations at the same time. We can’t wait to see you there!

THE OHIO VALLEY MUSEUM OF DISCOVERY YARD SALE

Once you’re finished shopping at the Birth Circle & LLL Yard Sale, head on down the road to the new location of the Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery for more yard sale fun! They will have food and kids’ activities, and your purchases will help support their programming as well!

BIRTH CIRCLE “FAMILY REUNION” PICNIC

In lieu of a regular monthly meeting, each August we gather to celebrate the wonderful community of families old and new with a festive picnic in a kid-friendly location. This year we are reuniting at Little Fish Brewing Company where the kids and parents can eat, drink and be merry while supporting The Birth Circle. The folks at Little Fish will offer a drink special and the proceeds will go to The Birth Circle to support our free programs. Bring a picnic dinner for your family or grab some food from the Cajun Clucker food truck. We hope that lots of you will join us that evening to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones and celebrate summer. See you there!

UPCOMING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
- Prepare a meal for a family with a new baby! We have several families with new babies who would love to receive meals now and later this summer! Our Meals for Moms program is one of the Birth Circle’s greatest success stories. Postpartum families who would like to have help in the form of meals may sign up with us sometime during their pregnancy. After the baby arrives, the family notifies the Meals for Moms coordinator, who then organizes the meals. Meals are prepared and delivered by Birth Circle volunteers like YOU. If you are interested cooking a meal, please click here to fill out our online form or contact coordinator Ariel Carver, arielrose.carver@gmail.com.
- Nelsonville Library’s Breastfeeding Diaper Changing Respite at the Parade of the Hills–Wednesday August 17th and Thursday August 18th, anytime between 1-5pm

AUGUST LOSS SUPPORT GROUP

6:30 to 8pm
Central Avenue Church, 73 Central Ave. Athens
If you are in need of support because of a pregnancy loss or the loss of your child, you are welcome to join us every first Thursday of the month for this support group. These meetings are free and facilitated by a professional social worker. All family members, such as grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, as well as friends are welcome. Childcare is provided.
