May is the month that we get back to our roots here at the Birth Circle and focus on birth stories! The Birth Circle was founded by mamas seeking a safe and supportive space to share their birth stories and we continue that tradition by dedicating our May meeting entirely to the sharing of stories. Join us May 30th, 7 pm at the Athens Library to share your birth story, whether from last week or 30 years ago, or to lend a supportive listening ear. All birth stories are welcome here, and it will be a supportive environment for the wide range of emotional experiences that surround birth and parenthood.  Our meeting sponsor for May is Ebb & Flow Lactation Services, and Julie is a great resource to be able to consult on the occasion of your next birth story.

“Ebb & Flow Lactation Services is owned and operated by Julie Gladney, BS, LPN, IBCLC, RLC, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.  I offer professional lactation services and classes to families in Southeast Ohio. With Ebb & Flow Lactation, you can expect care that is customized for your changing needs. Find more information at www.ebbflowlactation.com.”

Meals for Families (formerly Meals For Moms)

Let The Birth Circle community cook for you!  If you’ve just had a baby, if you are going through another type of transition in your family, or have experienced a loss, The Birth Circle is more than happy to organize a meal calendar to help support you.  If you are interested in receiving meals, providing meals or both, please contact our Meals For Families Coordinator, Ariel Carver at arielrose.carver@gmail.com for more information.

Prepared Mommy Camp

Camp is off to a great start. We had five participants at our April meeting and enjoyed lunch courtesy of Restaurant Salaam.  We have two sessions left in our spring camp (5/19, 6/16) and we are still in need of volunteers to transport participants and donations for lunch and snack for some days.  If you are able to help please contact athensbirthcircle@gmail.com for transportation and katie2pearce@gmail.com for food donations!  If you run a small business (cleaning, photography, massage, etc.) and are able to donate a gift certificate for some kind of self-care service for our participating Mamas, we will be collecting for the grand prize at the end of the Camp.
